⚠️ Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) warns residents of the two following scams:
MOTORIST SCAM ALERT: FRAUDULENT DMV TEXT MESSAGES/ DMV SCAM ALERT: FRAUDULENT TEXT MESSAGES TARGETING DRIVERS
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) is warning residents about a scam targeting drivers across the state.
WHAT THE SCAM LOOKS LIKE
You may receive a text message claiming:
- You have an unpaid traffic ticket
- Your driver license or registration will be suspended
- You must make an immediate payment using a link
- These messages are fraudulent and designed to steal your personal and financial information.

FLHSMV will never:
- Send text messages demanding payment
- Threaten suspension or legal action via text
- Request personal or financial information by text
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
If you receive one of these messages:
- Do not click any links
- Do not respond
- Delete the message immediately
- Report it to the Federal Trade Commission or local law enforcement
