This picture was taken prior to Leon (Lee) Zimmerman leaving office as Town Council Member from March of 2002 until his retirement as Vice-Mayor in 2008.
Lee Zimmerman
Lee was born in Philadelphia in 1920, and graduated from Charles Morris Price School of Advertising in 1940, this was a school started by Benjamin Franklin.
He married the former Bernice Shapiro in 1942, and after several years in the Navy, the couple moved to Baltimore Maryland in 1946. Lee owned, and was President of, both Globe Screen Printing Company, and Zimmerman Editions (Limited Editions of prominent artists), and during that time was President of the Screen Printing Association, and Director and Chairman of the SPAI (Screen Printing Association International).
Lee along with his wife Bernice migrated back and forth to South Florida during the 1970's where he first became interested in the 5/8th of a mile "Ocean Gem". They became permanent residents in South Palm Beach in 1985, and started the town newspaper "The Sandpiper" and kept it running for years. Lee received the Citizen of the Year Award in 1995 and it was awarded on the 10th of March 1996 by Mayor Margo Roberts.
He volunteered on almost every committee available in the Town, then helped develop the C.A.A.B. (Community Affairs Advisory Board), was Chairman for years, during which time he designed and made the flyers for different Town events.
Lee was sworn in as Council Member for the Town of South Palm Beach in March 2002, followed by his selection as Vice-Mayor in 2006. Now, the Town wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to a man who always made himself available to others.

Robert Gottlieb

Robert (Bob) Gottlieb has lived in the Town of South Palm Beach for many years. With his intense interest in helping to preserve the integrity of his community, he decided to run for, and was elected to, Council in March of 2005 until he retired on September 23, 2008.
Robert (Bob) Gottlieb was born in New York City, and graduated from the University of Miami. He was also a member of Palm Beach County Florida League of Cities, Palm Beach Countywide Coastal Council, Palm Beach County Impact Fee Committee, Going Green Task Force, Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council, South Florida Science Museum, and Board Member on the American Lung Association, Southeast Advisory Board.
Robert (Bob) Gottlieb continuosly expressed his pleasure in serving our very special Community. Staying "in the know", afforded him the ability to not only serve the Town of South Palm Beach with his working knowledge, but allowed him him to help ensure the safety and well-being of the Town.
