Q.  What is the LINK?

A.  The LINK is a route deviation pilot program serving residential and gated communities where fixed route services is not available, (this is not a door-to-door service).

Q.  How is the LINK funded?

A.  The project is fully funded by a grant from Florida Department of Transportation.  The grant amount is $212,500 and has been allocated for the first year.  If successful FDOT will fund for a second year.

Q.  Will the LINK connect to other public transportation options?

A.  Yes, all LINK routes will connect to existing fixed routes serving Tri-Rail stations.

Q.  When will the project be launched?

A.  February 2008.

Q.  Who will be served?

A.  The system will serve all individuals along the specified routes with a focus on the senior population.

Q.  How many routes are included in the pilot?

A.  Routes will be implemented to cover specific areas in Palm Beach County.  They are:

  • BLUE LINK  (Monday) Okeechobee Blvd. and Haverhill Road. to Northlake Blvd. and Military Trail via Haverhill Road. and Military Trail.
  • PURPLE LINK (Tuesday) Oriole Plaza at Atlantic Avenue  to Boynton Beach Blvd and Military Trail via Hagen Ranch Road.
  • GOLD LINK   (Tuesday) Palms West Hospital at Southern Blvd. to Okeechobee Blvd. and Royal Palm Beach Blvd. via Crestwood Blvd.
  • LIME LINK   (Wednesday) Nassau Square at Lake Worth Road to Caridad Center at Boynton Beach Blvd. via Lyons Road.
  • CORAL LINK  (Wednesday) Hypoluxo Road to Lake Worth Road via U.S.-1 and A1A.
  • RED LINK  (Thursday) County Line Plaza at US-1 to Indiantown Road and Central Blvd via Seabrook Road and Center Street.
  • MAGENTA LINK (Thursday) Boca Raton Tri-Rail Station to S.R.-7/U.S.-441 and Clint Moore Road via Yamato Road.

Q.  Are the LINK vans Bicycle Accessible?

A.  No.  The LINK vans are not equipped with bike racks.

Q. How many days a week will the LINK operate?

A.  The LINK will operate Monday thru Thursday with 1 to 2 routes per day. (Excluding county Holidays.)

Q.  How many hours a day will the LINK operate?

A.  It is scheduled to operate 9 hours a day.

Q.  Will there be a fare collected?

A.  Yes, $.50 fare for all boarding customers.  No passes accepted.  Must have correct fare.  Drivers do not carry change.

Q.  Can passengers pre-schedule a deviation?

A.  Yes, passengers can call Palm Tran CONNECTION to request a deviation within 3/4 of a mile off of the existing route.  Also, the passenger can inform the driver upon boarding.

Q.  How many days in advanced can a passenger schedule a deviation?

A.  Trips can be schedule three days in advanced between 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, seven days a week, by calling (561) 649-9838 or (877) 870-9849 (toll-free).

Q.  Will there be designated "LINK" stops along the routes?

A.  Yes, there will be scheduled stops in addition to "flag down" locations along the route.

Q.  Besides the LINK serving residential communities, what other area will the LINK deviate to?

A.  The LINK will deviate to shopping locations, medical centers, Palm Tran connecting routes and Tri-Rail stations within 3/4 mile of the route.
